Kasauli
- A 19th Century hill station (5889 feet) in Himachal
Pradesh India, Located 77 km from Shimla, 65 km from Chandigarh
and 50 km from Panchkula, it still retains the old world charms
and is a throwback to the past. It was the summer capital of the
British Army, post India's independence. At a height of 1951 mtrs.
Kasauli overlooks the cities of Chandigarh, Ropar, Panchkula, Ludhiana
and a few others, depending on which side of Kasauli are you in.

... The main Kasauli is divided into
portions, Upper Mall & Lower Mall areas. These are ideal for
long walks. A lot of people just go up to Kasauli from nearby
cities, as Chandigarh, for this long walk and fresh Pine &
Oak Wood brushed air, which is quite medicinal in nature, specially
for people with respiratory problems. This is one of the reason,
why the TB Sanatorium was built by the British, here in Kasauli.

How
to get there Kasauli is easy to reach
by road from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla and other major cities
in Northern India. The easiest way is to take the bus to Shimla
and get off at Dharampur. One can also take the Kalka-Shimla
Toy Train to Dharampur. from Delhi, one good way is
to book a cab from Delhi. Take the Chandigarh route. It's
just 350 km from Delhi and shouldn't take more than 6-7 hrs by
road. Note: There's also a shortcut through Sector 4, Parwanoo
via Jangeshu.
.. CLIMATE In
winter, temperature can lower just above freezing point when heavy
woollens are required. During summer, the climate is mild and
light woolens or cottons are recommended.
